Put a paid phone line on your website
People call you@yoursite.com and pay by the second, straight to you. Your website stays exactly as it is: this only adds a phone line beside it.
1Your website
2Add one record to your domain
Log in where you bought your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google, 123-reg…), open its DNS settings, and add this one record:
| Type | Name / Host | Value / Points to |
|---|---|---|
| A | call | 143.110.162.47 |
- This creates call.yoursite.com, a new address just for your line. Nothing at yoursite.com changes.
- Leave TTL as it is. It usually takes a few minutes to start working, sometimes up to an hour.
Where do I find DNS settings?
- GoDaddy: My Products → your domain → DNS → Add New Record.
- Namecheap: Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add New Record.
- Cloudflare: your site → DNS → Records → Add record. Set Proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud).
- Google / Squarespace Domains: your domain → DNS → Custom records.
3Claim your line
We make your line at call.yoursite.com and give you a one-time link. On it you choose your name and handle, and your browser makes the 12 recovery words that are the only key to your line and your earnings.
4Optional: be you@yoursite.com
After claiming, your line is you@call.yoursite.com. To drop the "call." part, add one redirect on your website, then press Check and move in your line's console:
| Redirect from | To |
|---|---|
| yoursite.com/.well-known/bsvalias | https://call.yoursite.com/.well-known/bsvalias |
Most website builders have a "Redirects" or "URL redirects" setting. You can skip this: your line works either way.
This website already has a line
already runs Open Line. Add its handle to the switchboard instead.
Every line switches on together at block 971,000. Yours joins the switchboard as a waiting bulb as soon as it's claimed.
